ILLUMINATED BY T.W. GWILT MAPLESON, ESQ. NY: Lockwood & Co., (1849). First
Edition. Printed by T. Sinclair, Philadelphia. pp: 23 leaves of white card
stock. Text in black & red, illuminated throughout in full color and gilt,
interleaved with plain guards. In a gift binding of brown morocco:
coat-of-arms and lettering in gilt on both covers; covers and spine
decorated in blind; all edges gilt; half-inch chip from tail of spine.
10.25" x 8.25"  Very Good condition.
[Not recorded by Bennett, American Color Plate Books, which does include
three later works by Mapleson.]  Provenance: Inscribed on front
free-endpaper "Miss Mary A. Sterling / from her friend / J.W. Allen / Jan'y
