I: Parsons (1546-1610) an important English Jesuit, here defends his faith, countering the strongly anti-Catholic proclamation of 1591, made by Elizabeth against the Spanish throne and the missionary work of the Jesuits in England. The imprint is fictitious. Allison & Rogers notes that this edition was seen through the press by Richard Verstegan. Adams E142. Allison & Rogers, Vol. I, #885.
II: One of the earliest accounts of Mary Queen of Scots' imprisonment and death, beheaded in February of 1587, together with a Catholic commentary on the event. The original English account of which this is a Latin translation does not appear to have been published, according to Allison & Rogers. Adams M828; VD 16, M 991; Allison & Rogers Vol. I, #803.
