First edition. 2 vols. 436;449,(1)pp. Plus a 4,32,(2)pp. publisher's catalog at back. Engraved frontispiece portraits of Burr and his wife Theodosia, and with a folding facsimile letter from General Montgomery. Orig. brown pebbled cloth, soiled, extremities of spines a bit chipped, with paper spine labels (darkened & rubbed). Outer front hinge of Vol. I with a 2" split but holding nicely. Occasional foxing. Partially removed bookplates on both front pastedowns. Both volumes are inscribed by Davis at the top of each title page to Henry W. Bool, a well known Baltimore book auctioneer of the 1830s.    $300.00 (trade discount allowed)
