Vermont. VERMONT "THE GREEN MOUNTAIN STATE" SOUVENIR PLAYING CARDS: 53
Views of Especial Natural and Historic Interest. Portland, Maine: Chisholm
Bros., ca 1910. Original edition. Complete deck of 52 playing cards, plus
joker, plus introductory text, plus game rules for 500 and table of points
for bridge, for a total of 55 cards, in the original box. The corners of
the cards show the traditional four suits, deuce through ace, plus the
joker.  Each card has a different half-tone view of scenes in Vermont with
captions. The pictorial card-backs are decorated in gilt and colors, with a
view of the State capitol at center and the State seal in all four corners;
gilt edges. In the publisher's blue slipcase box, cover title in gilt,
edges worn. Cards have been played with but not abused, no bent corners.
[The World of Playing Cards website calls this the second edition (1910)
with the views on the backs outlined and captioned in gold, while the views
are identical to those in the first edition of 1909.]  3.5" x 2.75" Very
Good. Boxed .
