unauthorized. Printed and ornamented wraps in red and black. Laurence 
BB7b. The Fabian Society, formed in 1883 by English socialist 
intellectuals, was of great influence on the English labor movement. Its 
aims were formulated in this book, first published in London in 1889, 
with the young Shaw acting as editor and contributing two essays. Annie 
Besant also contributes. From the inventory of H. P. Kraus. Housed in 
red cloth clamshell box with label removed from inner cover. Near Fine 
copy overall of this fragile item. Owner name on front wrap, light wear 
to spine, old crease to text, occasional pencil notations. Library stamp 
on half-title page and one contents page. Uncommon, especially in this
