[Soame Jenyns:] Thoughts on a Parliamentary Reform. London: Printed for J. Dodsley, in Pall Mall, MDCCLXXXIV [1784]. FIRST EDITION; 8vo (22.5 cm) stitch-bound in early wraps; [4] + 26 pp.; with the half-title. ESTC T50102.

Anti-reform pamphlet by Jenyns (1704-1787), a minor poet, conservative pamphleteer and wealthy member of the Board of Trade. Rather scarce: ESTC locates only 6 copies in U.S. institutions. Soames had earlier made a name for himself with a similarly slim and reactionary pamphlet entitled, The Objections to the Taxation of our American Colonies (1765) in which he dismissed the colonists protests against "taxation without representation." Soiling and creasing to the half-title and to the upper fore-corner of several leaves, toning and scattered light damp-stain to the contents, but generally clean, firmly bound.
