PICTURES:  A {Photographic Review designed better to acquaint the people of
North Carolina with their Educational Plant.  Greensboro, NC: NC College
for Women, circa 1920.  First Edition. 96pp, including 82 full-page
photographs of college scenes, buildings, and activities of the young
women. Bound in color-pictorial stiff wrappers, string-tied. 5.75" x 8.

Printed by hand on the cover: Drusilla Dofflemyer-Voorhees, June-July
1928.  Signed and inscribed by 12 of Drusilla's classmates, with their full
names (some "Mrs."), hometowns in North Carolina, and sentiments. Drusulla,
also known as Mrs. Voorhees, is later associated with Elon College. Very
Good condition.

Established by an act of the NC General Assembly in 1891 as the “State
Normal & Industrial School” for the education of NC women, the school
became the “State Normal and Industrial College” in 1897.  >From 1919
through the 1920s, it was known as the North Carolina College for Women,
then became the “Women’s College of the University of North Carolina”
(1932-63), finally transforming into the co-educational “University of
North Carolina at Greensboro.”

This book is divided into 11 sections, preceded by two birds-eye views of
the campus: “Some Exteriors of Public Buildings”, including Little Guilford
Hall, New Education Building, McIver Building, etc.-17 photos; “Some
Exteriors of College Residences”, including gray Building, Spencer
Building, the President’s House, Faculty Residences, etc.-13 photos; “Some
Views of the Campus”, including gates, paths, bridge, etc.- 5 photos;
“Views of Some Interiors”, including gymnasium, the “biological
laboratory”, the “Play-likers” dramatic group (one scene from a play, one
set), etc.-11 photos; “May-Day Activities”, showing girls in white,
including the May Queen and her court, outdoors-3 photos; The Rhythmics of
Physical Education, showing girls in Grecian-style tunics in poses on the
lawns-3 photos; At the Time of Commencement, showing the girls at the
outdoor ceremony- 5 photos; Scenes Taken from the College Farm, including
cows and dairy barn-3 photos; At Length: More Scenes on the Campus,
incluidng power plant, laundry, Kirkland Hall, the Residence Section, etc.-
9 photos; Fronts Familiar to Students, including Kirkland Hall, New Curry
Building, Spencer Dormitory, etc.- 7 photos; and A Scene or Two from
Peabody Park, including the natural path, an old road, etc.- 4 photos.
