1820s-30s Manuscript "Ordination Hymn"

No place, no date, but probably American, 1820-30. An intriguing
manuscript hymn, apparently original, titled "Ordination Hymn - Miss
L.L. Balou - L.M.".

A seven-stanza hymn whose text cannot be found in an internet search-

"Great God of love! to thee we raise
A song of joy, and hope and trust
A hymn of pure and lofty praise
though naked by spirits clothed in dust.

Joy, that one more hath heard the call
for laborers in thy vineyard, Lord
and with a brothers love for all
Stands nobly forth, to preach thy word.

Hope, that the future e'er may find
him foremost in thy glorious cause;
Faithful to lead the weak and blind-
Obedient ever, to thy laws.

Trust, Father, that thy love will be
A lamp, to guide his willing feet-
And anchor on life's stormy sea,
When waves of sorrow round him beat.

Praise, and adoring thanks we give
For those great truths which brought
O, Father, help us all to live
The scared precepts which he taught.

And now, great spirit, will thou bless
And consecrate thy servant dear!
Anoint him with thy holiness
And make him strong to labor here.

Come holy spirit, love divine,
With all thy quickenind powers descend!
And unto thee, and unto thine,
Shall everlasting praises blend."

Single sheet. 8"x10". Some soil and wear. $100
