First edition. Disbound 8vo (19 cm); xvi, [2], 18-112 pp; with the half-title.

Very uncommon. A diatribe against Isaac Rene Guy Le Chapelier (1754-1794), deputy to the estates General, president of the National Constituent Assembly, and co-founder of the Breton Club. A radical in the early days of the French Revolution, he eventually proved not radical enough for the Jacobins, who lured him back to France from temporary exile in Britain and guillotined him in 1794. Le Chapelier appears as a character in Rafael Sabatini's historical novel Scaramouche.

Browning and wear to the first and last leaves, mild toning and occasional light spotting to the rest of the text; corners a bit bumped; old paper repair to the half-title page. The subtitle's claim that the work is adorned with a "portrait de sa majeste" appears to have been an empty boast: none of the few holdings we can find in OCLC (British Library, Bibliotheque Nationale, etc.) makes any mention of a portrait or frontispiece being present.
