San Francisco: Marvin & Hitchcock. 1852. 12mo. 258pp. Publisher's quarter red calf over purple cloth, extremities a bit rubbed, hinges starting but sound. Title and text with some foxing, but a very decent copy. $1,500.00 (trade discount allowed)
This scarce little volume is the first text-book published in the new state of California. Cowan p. 101, notes, "This is believed to be the first education work published in California after American rule." From p. 230 to the end, is text on "the present condition of California". Greenwood #320.
