Good 1987 Letter from Richard Wilbur to Key West Review Editor William
Schlicht.
A double-sided typewritten letter dated May 7, 1987 to William Schlicht,
editor of the Key West Review- Wilbur begins by saying that his serious
poems have not been finishing themselves lately and he has nothing new
at the moment but a few things for children or amusable adults, which he
sends for Schlicht to look at; talks about his new book, “Opposites”,
and possible a sequel; and finishes by complaining about the Review only
paying in contributor’s copies & describing this as “the general policy
of literary journals” which, Wilbur asserts, it is not, suggesting that
it is the principle of paying something, even if only $5, that writers
most appreciate, rather than the amount. Great content.
Single sheet on Richard Wilbur’s stationary, typed both sides and signed
“Dick Wilbur”. [43286] $250
