Lord Byron. A handsome collection of first or early printings of twenty-nine works by or about Byron. Seven volumes, 8vo, uniformly bound in full nineteenth-century russia with gilt-tooled borders, gilt-lettered spines. Bound without the half-titles and most of the publisher’s adverts, making issue points for some titles difficult if not impossible to determine. Condition is Near Fine or better: spines a little rubbed and dry, boards with occasional very light rubbing and edge-wear; contents with occasional modest toning (most noticeable on a few of the title-pages), otherwise exceptionally clean, bright and fresh. Front paste-downs with the engraved armorial bookplate of Edward Nicholas Hurt, who (judging by this set and a fine copy of Lady Blessington’s Conversations of Lord Byron which we’re also offering this week) clearly took fastidious care of his library.
