Leigh Hunt: Lord Byron and Some of His Contemporaries; with Recollections of the Author’s Life, and of His Visit to Italy. London: Henry Colburn, 1828. FIRST EDITION; 4to (29.5 cm), untrimmed in modern cloth-backed boards in period style, printed spine label; viii, 513, [1] pp.; six engraved plates.

Hunt’s notorious, score-settling memoir in which he pilloried his erstwhile friend and patron, Lord Byron, while at the same time nearly beatifying Percy Bysshe Shelley. With shorter chapters on Charles Lamb, John Keats, Tom Moore, and others. Some soiling and stains to the spine cloth, contents with some spotting and offsetting to and from the plates, a few scattered small spots elsewhere, otherwise very clean and fresh with nice, wide untrimmed margins, firmly bound. A very good copy. An extra spine label is tipped onto the rear paste-down, should the owner ever want to replace the one currently on the spine.
