[Catharine Rebecca Grey,] Lady Manners: Poems. London: Printed for John Booth, Duke Street, Portland Place; G. G. and J. Robinson, Paternoster Row; and B. and J. White, Fleet Street, 1794. First 8vo edition (19.5 cm); untrimmed and unopened in the (presumably) original blue paper-covered boards, parchment spine; [6], 152 pp.; with the half-title page. ESTC T96366.

The first 8vo edition, containing a poem not found in the first 4to edition (”Written by Mrs. Cowley, on Reading the Verses of Lady Manners to Solitude”). A very fine copy: contents exceedingly clean, fresh and bright, virtually as new; unopened (i.e., many of the leaves still joined at the edges as issued), hence unread; small horizontal nick to the spine paper.

Catharine Grey, Lady Manners (1766?-1852), was born in Cork, Ireland, and raised as part of the Anglo-Irish Ascendancy. A number of the poems here have Irish themes.
