(ASTRONOMY) Peurbach, Georg von. NOVAE THEORICAE PLANETARUM... a Petro Apiano Mathematicae... Redactae, & Eruditis Figuris Illustrate. (Venice: Petrum de Nicolinis Sabiensis & Melchioris Sessae. 1551). Sm. 8vo. ff.40. Fine woodcut on title and text with 48 large and small woodcut diagrams. Final verso with the cat & mouse woodcut device of Sessa. Early vellum, rear hinge neatly repaired. Both covers with pinhole worming, which does not go into the text. Some old soiling to the bottom margin of the final leaves.    $1,500.00 (trade discount allowed)
Perhaps the most popular textbook on planetary theory in its day. The editions edited by Peter Apian begin in 1528. The 1551 edition is uncommon, not in Adams or BL Italian STC. OCLC currently records 7 copies, 4 in the U. S.
