La Haye: chez A. de Rigissart, 1719-20. First editions. Three volumes, 12mo (15.5 cm) in early/period speckled calf, gilt-tooled spines, marbled endpapers, page edges dyed red; copper-engraved frontispieces and title-page vignettes in each volume.

Three volumes of this scarce, short-lived (1718-1720) scholarly journal consisting of extracts from, reviews of, and/or essays inspired by contemporary works of literature, history, philosophy, exploration, the sciences, and religion.

Bindings with generally modest rubbing and wear, loss of one spine label; vol. II a bit moisture-damaged, with some bowing and an abrasion to the front board, modest cockling to the first part of the text block; a few leaves bumped at the upper corners; otherwise the contents are very fine: exceedingly clean, bright, fresh and crisp, apparently unread, firmly bound.
