The author recounts visits to Madeira, Salvador (Bahia), Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town, etc., describes "an unexpected Rencontre with a Whale," and provides a lively account of the "Ludicrous Ceremony" accompanying the crossing of the equator. The text somewhat browned and spotted, most noticeably on the first and last leaves, else clean and sound, firmly bound.
