Shaw, Henry. DRESSES AND DECORATIONS OF THE MIDDLE AGES. London: William Pickering [Printed by C. Whittingham]. 1843. Sm. folio. 2 volumes. Unpaginated. With added color title page; letterpress title printed in black & red. With 94 hand colored plates, with descriptive text, and with numerous initials and text illustrations printed in color. Tissue guards with each plate. A very attractive set in contemporary half polished calf and marbled boards. A.e.g. Marbled endpapers with two 19th century bookplates of Sir Thomas Tobin and Robert Day. Spines show light rubbing. Both volumes housed in a red cloth slipcase.    $1,000.00 (trade discount allowed)
