[James Gillray:] French Invasion or Buonaparte Landing in Great Britain. London: Humphrey, 1803 [but later]. Large oblong etching; sheet size: 33 1/4 x 13 1/4 in.; plate size; 28 1/4 x 12 1/4 in. Trimmed close at the bottom, damp-stains to the margins, crease from folding at the center, long closed tear at left extending into the image (repaired on verso), else quite clean and sharp. Panoramic view of the imagined results of an attempted invasion of Britain by Napoleon Bonaparte. A restrike from the Bohn edition (ca. 1851), printed at full size and struck from the original copper plates.
