Greetings to All.
Subject to the terms set forth below, today and tomorrow we offer the
following book at a substantial discount:

Smith, Marie; Truman, Harry [Foreword[
The President's Lady: an Intimate Biography of Mrs. Lyndon B. Johnson
[SIGNED BY LADY BIRD JOHNSON -- PROVENANCE CONGRESSMAN HORACE KORNEGAY]

*New York: Random House, 1964. First Edition, First Printing. Hardcover. A
Fine copy of the first edition, first printing (some pushing and darkening
to the spine ends, Horace Kornegay's bookplate to the front pastedown --
yellow topstain remains quite nice in color), in a Very Good + dust jacket
(spine lightly sunned, some minor general rubbing and a few - mostly rather
small - chips), SIGNED BY LADY BIRD JOHNSON on the front free endpaper as
follows: "with best wishes, / Lady Bird Johnson". Claudia Alta "Lady Bird"
Johnson was America's thirty-second first lady (and wife of Lyndon B.
Johnson, the nation's thirty-sixth President). Formerly the Second Lady of
the United States, she became the nation's First Lady upon the 1963
assassination of President John F. Kennedy. (It was Mrs. Johnson's business
acumen that brought wealth to her family.) Considered a factually fuller
and less fawning biography than the earlier biography of Mrs. Johnson
authored by Ruth Montgomery. In commenting on this biography, the New York
times described Lady Bird Johnson as being "what many women wish they could
be". An ASSOCIATION COPY having an EXCELLENT PROVENANCE, this copy belonged
to US CONGRESSMAN HORACE KORNEGAY (who served during the Kennedy and
Johnson Administrations) whose bookplate graces the front pastedown. Copies
of her biography SIGNED BY LADY BIRD JOHNSON ARE QUITE SCARCE, and are
particularly so when in a condition as nice as is this copy. A SIGNED
ASSOCIATION COPY and, as such, QUITE SCARCE INDEED. Fine / very good +. *
