Illustrated with numerous text woodcuts (many full-page), including steel engraved portraits of Speke and Captain Grant. With 2 engraved maps; a large folding map of Eastern Equatorial Africa in a rear pocket, and "The Nile from Its Source," within the text. Both maps outlined in red & blue. Orig. pictorial brown cloth, stamped in gilt. Gift inscription on verso of frontispiece dated Xmas, 1863. Both front and rear free endpapers are recent. They are remarkably close to the original brown color paper, very hard to tell the difference, otherwise a lovely copy.    $850.00 (trade discount allowed)
