Scribner's Sons, 1923. First Edition. Blue cloth stamped in silver;
(xii), 504 pages including an Index. SIGNED by Catt on the front
endpaper. Bookplate from the League of Women Voters of New York on the
front pastedown with a paper label on the spine; front hinge paper
split, somewhat cracked but still tight. Light staining and wear to
cloth. Very Good, lacking the dustwrapper.
Carrie Chapman Catt (1859-1947) succeeded Susan B. Anthony as President
of the National American Woman Suffrage Association in 1900 and played
an essential role in bringing about the passage of the Nineteenth
Amendment in 1920, the same year she founded The League of Women Voters.
