(12),250,(2)pp. With the final leaf of errata, and the copper engraved frontispiece (included in the pagination). 19th century fine binding by Worsfold, in full polished speckled calf, elaborately gilt spine & dentelles, brown calf spine labels. Small (1/8") chip at head of spine. A.e.g. Some foxing of a few outer leaves. Private library bookplate of John Lawson on front pastedown. Very scarce.    $750.00 (trade discount allowed)
Jacques de Caillieres (d. 1697) was the governor of Cherbourg and a marshal of the French army. This work was first published in 1661 as "La Fortune des Gens de Qualite..." Wing C207B.  No other copy for sale currently on-line.  This very copy sold at auction in England in 2008 for 450 pounds.
