Cruikshank, George. A POP-GUN Fired Off by George Cruikshank, in Defense of the British Volunteers of 1803, Against the Uncivil Attack Upon That Body by General W. Napier... Observations Upon Our National Defences... Illustrated with Cuts. London: for the author by W. Kent & Co. N.D. (1860). 8vo. 44pp. Illustrated with 8 woodcuts by Cruikshank, one of which is repeated n the front wrapper. Orig. blue-green printed wrappers. Wrappers a bit soiled. At top of the front wrapper a presentation inscription signed by Cruikshank, "From George Cruikshank to his friend Octavias Bluoitt (?)" in 1860. Laid into this copy is an original mounted photograph of Cruikshank (5-1/4" x 3-3/4"), 4 original autograph letters, all written to Cruikshank, addressed to him in his capacity of Colonel, 1862-1869. Also with a mounted orig. ink sketch on an addressed envelope (including the one penny stamp) of a funny looking military man shooting off a cannon. The sketch is certainly by Cruikshank but is unsigned.
