Charles Batteux, trans.: Ocellus Lucanus, De la Nature de l'Univers. Timee de Locres [Timaeus of Locri], de l'Ame du Monde. Lettre d'Aristote [Aristotle] a Alexandre, sur le Systeme du Monde. Avec la Traduction Francoise & des Remarques, par M. l'Abbe Batteux... Paris: Saillant, 1768. First edition; 8vo (20 cm) in early/period mottled calf, spine tooled and lettered in gilt, marbled endpapers and page edges; viii, 188; [6], 130; [6], 150, [2] pp.

Three works in one, each with a separate half-title and title-page. Text in Greek and French. Some bumping/wear to the corners, rubbing to the spine, light scuffing to the boards, otherwise a fine copy, the contents bright, clean and crisp, with just a hint of toning and cockling to the page edges, in a handsome French binding of the period. The front free-endpaper bears an early ink inscription (possibly by the translator?) to someone whose name appears to be "de Visconti": "...on trouver un morceau[?] sur Timee de Locres par un savant archiologique[?]."
