Twelvemo (17 cm) in full early/period cat's-paw goatskin, edges and spine tooled in gilt, gilt-lettered title piece, page edges red, marbled endpapers; viii, 422 pp.; woodcut decorations.

The work for which Lallemant is best known, "a collection of his maxims and instructions...detailing very thoroughly his spiritual method" (Catholic Dictionary). Some rubbing to the spine, occasional very faint spotting to the leaves, else just about Fine, clean and crisp in a charming French binding of the period.
