Le Rire. Numero special sur le Tour de France. Juillet 1934. Paris: Le Rire, 1934. Folio (31 cm) in original illustrated wraps; 22 pp. (unpaginated), illustrated in black&white and color. Some browning and wear to the edges, a few short closed edge-tears, light creases; spine chipped but holding.

A special issue of this French illustrated humor magazine entirely dedicated to the Tour de France. The humor ranges from the political to the scatological to the surprisingly saucy (e.g., as a couple disrobe for bed, the woman addresses the man: "T'as beau avoir le maillot jaune, faut pas te figurer que tu es le premier [You may have the yellow jersey, but don't think you're the first]". The issue includes a delightfully busy double-page color spread of "l'arrivee a Marseille," and loosely laid in, as an added bonus, is a color portrait/poster of the Italian racing cyclist Learco Guerra, "offert par le Journal 'Le Rire,'" bearing a copyright date of 1933.
