Simplicissimus-Album. No. 1 [and] No. 2. München [Munich]: Simplicissimus-Verlag, [1916]. Two volumes, folio (38 cm), in original illustrated wraps; each 16 pp., full-page black&white and color illustrations. Spines split or splitting; browning, wear and closed tears to the page-edges, some creasing and browning from folding.

Very uncommon examples of these visually arresting, if somewhat heavy-handed, German satires from the First World War, full of anti-British and, to a lesser extent, anti-French caricatures by Olaf Gubrasson, Ragnvald Blix and others. To disseminate the German point of view as widely as possible, the Simplicissimus albums were published in four languages: German, Swedish, Danish-Norwegian, and Dutch. These appear to be the Dutch editions.
