Good afternoon. 

Ezra from Aardvark offers a history of the new United States of America, and of the war that brought about that union.  Howes has called this book,  the “first full-scale history of this war by an American, to its preparation Jefferson contributed some aid”.
Of its author, Sabin wrote: ""Gordon is deservedly reckoned as one of the most impartial and reliable of the numerous historians of the American Revolution”

3 vol. 8vo.Tree calf, rebacked. Gilt stamp of the Society of the Writers to the Signet on front and rear covers ( on Vols. I & II, three of the boards are fully detached but present, and on Vol. II, weak). Contrasting red spine labels, lettered in gilt, and the 8 compartments double-ruled in gilt between compartments. TWO folding maps 2nd American edition transposed before vol 1.on title page. Vol. 1: 431 p., folded map before title page. p203 misnumbered 103 v. 2: 460 p., v. 3 18-448 [i.e. 450] pp. Light foxing and age tanning; entire text block of all three volumes generally
very bright and readable.

As minister of the Third Parish Church of Roxbury, Massachusetts, Gordon gave a fiery sermon on the eve of the American Revolution which made his reputation. He wrote this history in London after the war.
