John Dryden: The Poetical Works of John Dryden. With the Life of the Author... Embellished with superb engravings. London: Printed for C. Cooke...and sold by all the Booksellers in Great Britain and Ireland, [1798]. First Cooke edition. Three volumes (complete), 12mo (14.5 cm), in early/period calf-backed marbled boards; with engraved frontispieces and plates, each volume with an extra title-page. ESTC T178547.

Bindings with rubbing, wear to the corners, cracking to a couple of joints, but the boards are secure, one spine label lost; contents with occasional mild toning and spotting, ink stains to the edges of a few leaves, else generally clean and sound. With the striking early engraved bookplates of John Headlam and later(?) signatures of T. E. Headlam of Gilmonby Hall [Yorkshire].
