Bolton Corney: Curiosities of Literature, by I. D'Israeli... Illustrated... To which are added, Ideas On Controversy: Deduced from the practice of a Veteran: and adapted to the meanest capacity. London: Richard Bentley, 1838. Second edition, but first thus (i.e., "revised and corrected"); 8vo (20.5 cm) in original publisher's cloth-backed boards with printed spine label; xi, [1], 256 pp.; with the half-title page.

A rather snarky attack on Isaac D'Israeli's popular and much-reprinted Curiosities of Literature ("Facts, supported by references to authorities, were the corrective instruments chiefly resorted to; but I rather freely availed myself of sarcasm and irony"). The work created something of a literary tempest in a teapot, with D'Israeli answering with a pamphlet of his own, The Illustrator Illustrated, to which Corney responds, in this second, "revised and corrected" edition, with even snarkier derision and contempt.

Bumping and dings to the edges and corners, wear to the spine ends; contents mildly toned with a few scattered small spots, early owner's penciled signature, else clean and sound, firmly bound.
