HUGO, Victor. NOTRE-DAME DE PARIS. Paris: Limited Editions Club, 1930. 
Two quarto volumes (7-3/4" x 10-1/8") bound in pink Ingres paper 
wrappers. Introduction by Andrew Lang and illustrated with woodcuts by 
Frans Masereel. George Macy noted that upon reception of their copies, 
many members felt "cheated because the two volumes were paperbound. We 
had to bind in hard cases, American fashion, most of the copies." That 
said, of the approximately two dozen copies we have handled over the 
years, all but two were in their original paper wrappers, as is this 
copy. Copy #509 of 1500 copies SIGNED by the artist on the colophon 
page. Very mild soiling to spines; lacking the glassines and chemise. 
Fine in a close to Fine original slipcase. (#017660)        $600
