CARVER, Raymond. FIRES. ESSAYS POEMS STORIES. Santa Barbara: Capra
Press, 1983. First Edition. Copy #179 of 250 numbered copies in red
boards SIGNED by Carver of this superb collection containing the title
essay as well as his essay "On Writing," along with 50 poems and 7
stories, including "So Much Water So Close to Home," which figured
prominently in Robert Altman's film SHORT CUTS. In addition this copy is
INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author on the title page: "For John
Koontz/with good wishes/and regards/Ray Carver/October 24, 1984."
According to an old pencil note by a previous bookseller, Koontz was a
publisher, but we were not able to locate such. A John Koontz did write
a review of REMEMBERING RAY (1993) that was published in WESTERN
AMERICAN LITERATURE, Vol. 29, No. 2 (Summer 1994), page 179. In any
case, an uncommon book to find inscribed. Fine in original glassine.
