W. A. Ross: A Yacht Voyage to Norway, Denmark, and Sweden. London: Henry Colburn, 1848. First edition. Two volumes, 8vo (20.5 cm), in original publisher's cloth, decorated and lettered in gilt; 359; 304 + 24 pp.; with a frontispiece in vol. I, half-title page and publisher's catalogue in vol. II.

Bindings with bumping to the extremities, sunning and leaning to the spines, a few spots, splitting to the cloth along the rear joint of vol. II, but the board is secure; browning and marginal damp-stain to the frontispiece, contents with scattered light spotting, else clean and sound. Loosely laid in is a trimmed compliments slip from historian and founder of the National Maritime Museum, Sir Geoffrey Callender.

An account of a voyage to, and a tour of, Scandinavia undertaken in Robert Lord Rodney's cutter yacht Iris in the spring and summer of 1847. "On board were Rodney, in command, the author and one other guest, the sailing master, mate, crew of eight seamen, cook, steward, and boy. Iris sailed from Greenwich to Christiansand, Elsinore, Copenhagen, Falkenborg, Gotteborg, Chrisitiana, Fredrecksvaern, Larvig, Boom, Gron Fjord, Bergen, Scarborough, Yarmouth Roads, and back to Greenwich" (Ernest Toy: Adventurers Afloat: A Nautical Bibliography).
