Richard Duppa, [Robert Southey, William Wordsworth, (trans.)]: The Life and Literary Works of Michel Angelo Buonarotti. London: Printed for John Murray; R. H. Evans; W. Miller; Archibald Constable and Co. Edinburgh; and John Archer, Dublin; by T. Bensley, Bolt Court, 1806. Tall 4to (29 cm) bound in modern quarter black leather and vellum boards, front board lettered in gilt, housed in a similar leather-backed vellum clamshell slipcase; xi, [1], 224, [136] pp.; with a portrait frontispiece, two leaves of facsimiles, and 25 [of 26] plates, most with the original[?] tissue guards.

As stated in the preface, "the edition consists of two hundred copies." Southey and Wordsworth provided translations of some of Michelangelo's sonnets. Lacking the plate of the Sistine Chapel ceiling, else complete. Contents with intermittent browning, most noticeable on the plates, the first few leaves and the untrimmed edges of the text block, a few scattered small spots, dust-soiling to page edges, else quite clean and sound. Housed in a rather audacious vellum and black leather binding, with matching slipcase, of recent vintage.
