FIRST EDITION. Descriptions and photographs of many of the early 
buildings of Anaheim, Orange County, California. Leo J. Friis was born 
in Iowa and attended law school at the University of Southern 
California. He was admitted to the Bar in 1926 and settled in Anaheim. 
Friis entered private practice, and then worked for the Orange County 
District Attorney’s Office, and served as Anaheim City Attorney 
(1941-1949). Friis was involved in many community organizations, 
including the Episcopal Church, the Masons, and the Elks. He was also 
connected to the Orange County Historical Society and served two terms 
as its president. He became known as Anaheim’s Historian Laureate.
