Dear Friends, Customers, and Colleagues:

For your consideration we offer two items on typography and art.

First, Jan Tschichold's working copy of a portfolio of posters by
French artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec:

Jan Tschichold (1902–1974) was a renowned German typographer and book
designer who played a significant role in the development of 20th
century graphic design. In 1933, as the Nazis rose to power,
Tschichold and his wife were arrested. Thereafter he emigrated to
Switzerland, which would remain his adopted home.

The working copy on offer is from a pivotal time in Tschichold's
career exemplified by his move from modernism to a more classical
approach. A few months after these notes were made, Penguin Books
hired Tschichold to implement a consistent style across all Penguin
publications.

The second item on offer is an extravagant and exceedingly scarce
elephant folio on English paintings in American collections:
