A chatty piece of history-telling by the pastor of the Congregational 
Church in Essex. Contains some very interesting descriptions of the early 
laws of the colony and how they were carried out, including a rather 
remarkable defense of the hanging of Quakers. Makes mention of some early 
Essex industries including saw mills and fishing. A pleasant, informative 
ramble. Hardcover. 5"x8", 166 pages, + 3 page subscriber list; 
frontispiece, folding map, several line illustrations in the text; bound in 
orignal blind-embossed light brown cloth; light cover wear, spine head
