(No. 1783 )  [Continental Army, Connecticut] Reuben Sharp. REVOLUTIONARY WAR
PAY VOUCHER.
Hartford: , 1782. Fine.
      Single pre-printed sheet with specifics filled in by hand, measuring
approximately 7" x 6.5". Reads as follows (handwritten words in all caps):
"Hartford, MARCH 13TH 1783 / Received, of Pay-Table-Committee, their Order
on the Treasurer of this State, to secure the Payment of SEVENTEEN POUNDS
AND FIVE SHILLINGS,  being the balance due to REUBEN SHARP on the first Day
of January 1782, as stated by the Committees of the State and of the Army.
IN BEHALF OF REUBEN SHARP / £ 17..18 / BENJAMIN WISE." This is a typical
example of a Continental Army soldier signing his pay over to someone else
in exchange  for goods or services. Reverse side shows where this voucher
was recorded in the official record (Vol. 4 Fol. 214). Part of the paper's
watermark is visible. Very clean and bright.    $150.00
