HEARN, Lafcadio. CHITA: A MEMORY OF LAST ISLAND. New York:  Harper
1889.  First Edition.  Decorated salmon cloth stamped in brown and
gilt.  Author's  first novel (BAL 7918) about the famous hurricane of
1856, before hurricanes had cute names, that devastated the New Orleans
area.  Hearn describes the storm and its aftermath, including
looting.  Lower blank corner of one leaf lacking not coming close to
the text.  Smudging to margins of a few pages.  Spine cocked, mild
rubbing.  A respectable, better than Good copy                 $100.00
