1)         Easton 
(Florence)  (1882-1955).   Yorkshire 
soprano.  Fine black and white photograph by 
Francis Bruguiere (credit stamp verso), 23.5 x 18 
cm. Easton in full regalia, seated. Dockets in pencil on back  Inscribed:

             “For Mr. William E. Chamberlain with 
pleasure. Memories of my first concert 
in   Berkeley. Very sincerely / Florence Easton.”

William Edwin Chamberlain was the American 
baritone who settled in Berkeley, organized the 
Berkeley Music Association in 1910; it lasted at 
least through 1934, sponsoring 5 concerts a year.  $300.00



2)                  Anderson (Marian) 
(1897-1993).  American mezzo-soprano.  Signed 
program.  Oakland (Ca.) Forum Artist Series. 
Monday, March 8, 1937.  Oakland 
Auditorium.  Single sheet folded once to form 4 
pages, 23 cm. Old fold, small mark in marginal 
corner.  Handel; Schubert; Verdi; Kilpinin; 
Sibelius; closing with four Negro Spirituals by 
Hall Johnson, Roland Hayes, John Payne  and 
Florence Price.  Anderson  was the featured solo 
performer, accompanied by Kosti Vehanen at the Steinway piano.


         Signed by Marian Anderson across the 
face of page (1). Egregious racism delayed 
until  January 1955 her debut at the New York 
Metropolitan Opera as Ulrica in Guiseppe Verdi’s 
“Un Ballo in Machera” (The Masked Ball) – the 
first black singer as a regular company member. She was 58. $125.00
