Green, Samuel Abbott. "JOHN FOSTER. THE EARLIEST AMERICAN ENGRAVER AND
THE FIRST BOSTON PRINTER"

Boston Massachusetts Historical Society: 1909. 1st Edition.

Karpel comments- "There are several errors in the volume, which more
recent scholarship has corrected, but it remains a valuable
bibliographical tool, particularly for its list of imprints. Green was the
first to link Foster with the portrait of Richard Mather, so his work is
of importance to later scholars. An excellently prepared bibliography of
Foster's imprints, and a short title list of attributions follows the
text. A short list of engravings and of his imprints ends the book".

Hardcover. 7.5"x10.5", 149 pages plus 12 b/w plates with 13 illustrations.
Light cover wear, spine head and base chipped; slight tear at spine head.
Ex-Long Island Historical Society with bookplate, blindstamp and
deaccession stamp. [0438] $60.00
