Fugitive Slave Memoir inscribed to Suffragette

Brown, William W. NARRATIVE OF WILLIAM W. BROWN, A FUGITIVE SLAVE.  
Boston: Bela Marsh, 1849. Fourth edition. "Complete Edition, Tenth  
Thousand". Octavo, black cloth gilt. All edges gilt. 162pp. Engraved  
frontis portrait and three black and white woodcut plates. This copy  
inscribed by the author to Woman's Rights advocate Susan R. Doty.  
Doty was in attendance on thursday, July 20, 1848, at the morning  
session on the second day of the First Women's Rights Convention, and  
is among the sixty-eight women who signed the Declaration of  
Sentiments. "Susan R. Doty. From her friend, Wm. W. Brown, Boston,  
June 1849". A good or better copy that has been rebacked. pages 53-56  
are supplied in facsimile. Some toning. Howes B-874. An interesting  
and unusual association in the broad view of civil rights. $1500.00
