MILNE, A. A. WINNIE-THE-POOH. [New York]: E. P. Dutton & Company
(1926). First Edition. First American Edition of this children's
classic with illustrations by Ernest H. Shepard. This copy has been
beautifully rebound in full rust calf by Sangorski and Sutcliffe with
a gilt depiction on the front cover of Christopher Robin dragging
Pooh down the stairs and a gilt Christopher Robin standing on the
rear cover. There are also gilt depictions of other characters in
each corner of both covers as well as on the spine, with all edges
gilt. Unfortunately, this copy suffered some water damage in the past
that has left a stain on the bottom of both covers, moreso on the
rear which extends about a third of the way up. The first and last
few pages exhibit only a very faint dampstain. Despite this and some
rubbing along the spine edges, the book still presents well and would
make a fine gift. Very Good, handsomely bound. $500.00
