SCOTT, Sir Walter. THE LADY OF THE LAKE. Edinburgh: Charles and Adam 
Black, [n.d.] (Gift inscription on front endpaper dated June 1868). 8vo. 
in Mauchline binding (lacquered wood boards "grown in Queen Mary's 
Garden of the Royal Palace of Stirling") with unusual shaped photo onlay 
of Stirling Castle on the front cover. Gilt decorated red morocco spine 
with raised bands; mild rubbing. All edges gilt. Gilt inner dentelles 
and white moire endpapers. Mild spotting to preliminaries and terminals. 
Front endpaper open at gutter, but binding sound. Illustrated with 11 
albumen photos mounted on stiff paper with tissue guards; tissues with 
occasional light spotting, but photos are very good with good contrast 
and detail, especially in the foreground of the images. Text woodcut 
illustrations by Edward Evans. A very attractive copy. Gernsheim 455.
