London: Macmillan and Co., 1886. First printing, Original cloth, Octavo, 
[iv], 596 pages. Very good.
      First British one volume edition of James's novel about a talented 
bookbinder caught up in political radicalism. Bound in dark green cloth over 
boards with spine and upper board stamped in gilt and black, lower board 
stamped in blind. Prior owner label at top fore corner of front pastedown, 
mild foxing to endpapers. Binding shows some wear to extremities, some 
chipping at spine ends. Hinges sound....... $100.00
