panelled calf binding, stamped in blind on upper & lower covers,
leather spine label, title page printed in red and black. [185] pp
(note: last leaf misnumbered 177) + [134] pp indices at rear. Two
18th century names in old ink on title page, binding worn at edges,
spine label somewhat chipped. Very good copy, hinges slightly cracked
but nice and holding very firmly. A history of Rome from the
foundation of the city to the closing of the temple of Janus by
Augustus (25 BC). Florus, Roman historian, lived in the time of
Trajan and Hadrian. $100.00

spine panel gone, otherwise Very good. Fleury was a favourite of King
Louis XIVth, tutor to his children, this is his history of the Jews
in antiquity and contemporary times. $75.00

spine with raised bands and nice gilt decoration ss in the
compartments, title label. 320 pp (note: pp 316-320 are publishers
ads). Ex-Malvern Public Library copy, bookplate on front paste-down,
small stamp to title page. Hinges lightly cracked, small chips to
title label on spine panel, very good clean copy. Hugo Grotius, Dutch
Statesman and Scholar, writing on 'The Truth of the Christian
Religion'. A popular work, originally issued in 1627. $75.00

Two volumes in one. Folio, printed in double columns. Full Armorial
Vellum, the spine with gilt devices and black title label, front &
rear panels with the heraldic devices of The Society of Writers to
the Signet. An engraved title vignette adorns the first title page;
otherwise a few borders and endpieces constitute the only
illustrations. Each volume has a table of contents and index "of
notable things." Minor soiling to Vellum, a fine copy. $300.00
