PARIS: MARCEL DAVID, 1709.
Volume 2 only (of 5).  Nicely bound in modern full calf with raised bands. Profusely illustrated with a half-page plate for each fable. New end papers, ink (?) smears on the blank title page verso & first page of Table of Contents and to a lesser extent in a few other places, small slit in last two leaves (not affecting text), top of 2 leaves missing one or two words, p. 167 mispaginated 177 & p. 191 mispaginated 193.. Many tail-pieces, ornamental capitals, &c .[4], 229, [3] pages . 6-1/2 X 3-1/2 inches but collated in 4's.  The last 3 pages contain the Privilege du Roy.  RARE EDITION. NOT IN OCLC (which does list several other Parisian editions of this year.) The only other copy we have located is in the Bibliotheque Nationale, which also holds only Volume 2. In fact it appears that there is no imprint in OCLC by this publisher.
