Quarto; pp; lii, 1188; frontispiece, profusely illustrated, folding map; decorated navy buckram gilt lettered, patterned endpapers in a dust jacket; jacket has faded from sunlight and there are chips at the edges and a small pice missing from the spine and the top right corner; Overall a very good copy. A few preliminaries have been affected by insect depredation at the fore-edge and affecting 1.5 inches of four leaves with loss, these are in the Illustrations list. in a good or better dust-jacket. 

Bi-lingual edition. Encyclopedic survey of the Island covering many subjects from natural history to the military to religion etc.  Sixty pages of advertisting at rear. OCLC locates just one copy at the University of Michigan.
