1.  CHAFFIN, W. L.  HISTORY OF EASTON MASSACHUSETTS. Cambridge, MA., 1886. Illustrated by Forbes albertype plates from photographs and four maps, one folding. First edition. Original brown cloth with gilt rules and lettering. Inscribed by the town counsel. 838 pgs Very good. Fine index. Although the binding is fine, the first signature is starting and another later page is loose. Two underlinings. A couple of spots on pages. This is a scarce town history and a very professional job of research. Much about the leading family Oakes/Ames.  $135.00 NOW $67.50

2.  COTHREN, WILLIAM.  HISTORY OF ANCIENT WOODBURY, CONNECTICUT. Waterbury CT., 1854. Illustrated by a map and 6 plates. First edition. Full polished calf with embossed borders and gilt lettering on a leather spine label. 8vo. Index, [12] 833, vii pgs Very good. Cothren went on to publish two more volumes of this history, covering later periods in Woodbury's history. This volume stands alone, covering the period of 1659-1854. Howes states that Cothren "devoted thirty-two years to the task, an all-time endurance record among local historians." Signed by two mid-nineteenth century owners. Very scarce.  $850.00  NOW $425.00

Drake (important American historian)  and the other to F. Kidder Esq. (Civil War historian). Front paper covering hinge is split. Rebacked with original spine laid-down.
